Overall Satisfaction with KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training

As an energy supplier, we operate critical infrastructures. Due to increasing digitalization, it is becoming more and more important to sensitize employees to the dangers of using digital technologies. KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training supports us with up-to-date, appealing training courses to prepare the topic for employees in such a way that added value is created for both the company and the employees.

Pros

  • Phishing campaigns
  • Video trainings
  • Games
  • Poster

Cons

  • Currently, there is no way to train new employees in the period between signing the contract and the first day of employment. Access to the company mailbox is necessary.
  • Translation of training (e.g., 2021 Kevin Mitnick training for security awareness) is sometimes too late. Distributing a training with the year 2021 in the title in February 2022 seems outdated to the employees.
  • We cannot yet quantify specific results, as we have only been preparing the training since the beginning of the year and will be releasing them from 01 March. However, we expect that the increase in awareness among a large proportion of employees will ensure that the costs of using the platform are recouped through avoided security incidents.
We used a German tool before that is not listed above. Some tools we looked at without implementing them directly. KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training convinced us with a wide range of possibilities. In addition, we got to know several companies that reported their positive experiences with KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training. This prompted us to use KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training productively as our first platform.

The regularly revised content keeps the topic of security interesting for employees. The current training, e.g., also the warning about counterfeit Covid-19 vaccines, creates the awareness among the employees that they are always kept updated with the KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training platform. This was not the case with the previously used platform, where the training content was changed once a year in some cases.
We first imported all employees into the console via CSV import. In speaking with our Customer Success Manager, we realized that we should fill in more fields to better utilize the console and send notifications to an employee's manager. We imported again via CSV file, and all changes were made within half a minute. We import individual, newly hired employees via CSV file, for which we now have a template.
We monitor the implementation of mandatory training and use all training reports for regular reports to the management.
Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
The training courses convey the often not very popular topic of information security in an appealing package and without the raised forefinger used to admonish naughty children. As a result, employees are more likely to accept the advice than if it were read out by a supervisor in a presentation. Unfortunately, it is not possible to adapt the instructions to the specific language used in one's own company, e.g., who to contact in the event of a safety incident. This sometimes leads to questions from employees.
