Overall Satisfaction with LibreOffice
LIbreOffice is our default word processor/spreadsheet/presentation software. It has replaced MS Office and it is more resilient than Google Docs. It is a full-featured product that works.
- It is free.
- It works with all MS Office files.
- It is a full-featured desktop solution. No internet connection required to use.
- Excel macros are not supported.
- You need to get used to it. While it operates like Office, some of the icons/locations of items are different.
- It runs like Office 2003, not Office 365.
- It decreases our office expenses.
- When interfacing with people outside of the organization, most people don't know what it is.
- If sharing files, you need to be sure to save in Office formats.
I selected LibreOffice due to cost. While we need an office software suite, we don't need the sophistication of MS Office. We used the basics of MS Office. We couldn't justify the expense when we only use a faction of the functionality.
