Overall Satisfaction with Litmos

Our organization of 7,000 employees and 10,000 volunteers was using multiple, isolated services and locations to store and track training. Litmos is allowing us to bring that information together in a secure, managed approach. We get the flexibility to mix SAML SSO services and application based security to meet then needs of our learners.

Pros

  • Entra SSO & account provisioning was easy to setup.
  • The Litmos Assign rules allow us to dynamically assign and remove people from teams automatically based on account properties.
  • The flexibility to assign courses at the team and user level let us address most learners through standard templates and assignments, but gives us teh ability to customize a learner experience when needed.

Cons

  • The current roles and permissions model is restrictive. An update has been in the works for over a year, but has not yet made it to market.
  • The "Assign" feature is powerful, but can only be used to either add or remove learners. One rule can not handle both aspects of team maintenance.
  • Content can not be easily shared between Litmos instances.
  • Providing access to training compliance was much more difficult before Litmos. People did not have direct access and it was a struggle to get reports.

The ability to overlap the team structure allows us to create functional (Topical) teams and teams that support our organizational chart. This puts reports in teh hands of all that need it.
We purchased implementation services from Litmos. They were happy to meet and track down issues to our questions. When the time was right, we were able to tranistion to their Admin on Demand service. This has allowed us to benefit from skilled knowledge and avoid the expense of hiring a LMS Admin.
Not being locked into one learner authentication method allows us to be more secure and managed in our approach with employees, but maintain the needed flexibility for volunteers.
