Overall Satisfaction with LogicMonitor

We actually have two instances of LogicMonitor. One is for internal IT systems, the other is "externally" facing - so I guess you could say almost our whole organization uses it. My team manages and uses the internal instance. As such, we use it to monitor our internal systems and alert us at different thresholds.
  • Alerting
  • Customization
  • Integration
  • Jargon is a bit hard to wrap head around
  • User management could be streamlined better
  • GUI needs improvement
  • Automated alerting.
  • Literally all systems are being monitored at thresholds, so we're alerted before stuff hits the fan.
  • Nicely integrated, so it's tough to miss important alerts.
We actually use both. We use LogicMonitor for the actual monitoring and alerting of our systems and Sumo Logic for aggregating the logs and finding "patterns" or providing some sort of audit trail. In my mind they are two different systems and should be used as such, even with some similarities.
I've been pretty pleased with the attention and prompts I've received. I have had colleagues who have had a bit more of a difficult time getting the support they desired, but no complaints from me. I will say, the documentation is pretty thorough, so I don't often have to submit support requests.
I don't think it's enabled the business to retire tool[s], but that's because we've been using it since the inception of our company (or rather as long as I've been here). But as I mentioned before, it is pretty robust, so we have no need for any other alerting system. It absolutely has increased visibility and reduced time to resolution. Just by quickly being able to access the data for specific sources that are in question, that saves a ton of time and effort.
I like how robust it is, but with the robustness comes quite a learning curve in terms of sources, organization, and alerting. Once you get those down and understand them, it should be pretty quick to get the rest of your infrastructure into your LogicMonitor instance. The GUI is not the best. If you're not in LogicMonitor everyday, jumping back in and trying to remember how to navigate is a bit frustrating.

Do you think LogicMonitor delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with LogicMonitor's feature set?

Yes

Did LogicMonitor live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of LogicMonitor go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy LogicMonitor again?

Yes

It's great if you need a pretty robust monitoring system. I actually haven't used any other monitoring applications, so I have little to compare it to, but I think that says something. I don't think it would be great in a little mom and pop shop with limited manpower. I just think it would take too long to set up and maintain if there are bigger fish to fry. Medium-large enterprises would be great.
