Overall Satisfaction with LogMeIn Rescue

Remote support of customers who use our hardware and software. The "Lens" feature is also used. Being able to connect in is important to be able to render support instead of trying to blindly talk people through procedures and gather information secondhand.

Pros

  • Ease of use
  • It does actually work

Cons

  • Anytime we connect to a customer machine running Windows, font smoothing gets turned off, which makes text very difficult to read unless the technician opens systempropertiesperformance.exe to fix this, which wastes time.
  • The file transfer feature is horrendously slow at times.
  • The Calling Card takes exponentially longer to update than it does to install, and does so only when the customer actually goes to use it, which is extraordinarily inconvenient.
  • The Unattended Access feature frequently fails, causing clients to go "offline."
  • Slowness
  • Extra time spent opening systempropertiesperformance.exe to fix the font smoothing that it turns off upon every single connection
  • Waiting a long time for file transfers
Yes. It is easy to use for the person receiving remote support. The pin codes are easy for the technician to provide. Up until the point where font smoothing gets turned off, (forcing agents to use systempropertiesperformance.exe on the customer's Windows computer to fix font smoothing every single time) that is.
Authentication features seem to be fine. Cryptography seems to be sufficient as well. Overall, I don't have much in the way of actionable commentary here. My biggest complaint is, as always, the fact that there is no way to turn off the "feature" that turns off font smoothing on the customer's Windows computer upon connection! That is the only thing I care about, aside from slow file transfers, being fixed, above all.
If the technician's main monitor is a different scaling factor than the secondary display that the Rescue Technician Console is open on, all UI elements scale correctly except for the caption bar, which makes it look a little bit silly. This has been broken for so long, so, why can't it be fixed yet?
Inferior in most regards. Bomgar does the turning off of font smoothing by default, but it is trivially easy to disable, and the session quality is outstanding after doing so. ConnectWise Control doesn't do it at all. Google Remote Desktop is also great (except for not supporting older Windows builds, which Rescue does do, and is better for).

Do you think LogMeIn Rescue delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with LogMeIn Rescue's feature set?

Yes

Did LogMeIn Rescue live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of LogMeIn Rescue go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy LogMeIn Rescue again?

No

It's good in situations where remote screen sharing (or webcam sharing, in the case of "Lens") is needed, and less so in cases where it isn't. Either way, most other solutions I've used, from Bomgar to Google Remote Desktop, are superior.
