Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp

I use Mailchimp for clients to send out their monthly newsletters. Works very well for clients that have less than 2000 subscribers since there's no extra cost for them.
  • Clean user interface
  • Easy integration with website for new subscribers
  • Clients love that it's free (for up to 2k subscribers)
  • Very strict with spam complaints - this can be good or bad. We have people that originally gave consent and then when they get the email, they'll hit the complaint button and we'll get dinged for that. If you get too many of these (I mean like even 5-6 of these) per mailing, they will shut down your account
  • Mailchimp saves businesses probably $100 a month because it's free
  • And it also keeps the business top of mind so it's making them money as well just by landing in customer's inbox regularly
Most clients gravitate twoards this option becauase of the free version. There is also ease of use with a nice clean what you see is what you get/drag and drop editor to build the newsletters. People also love the ability to send out their blog postings automatically instead of having to do that manually every time.
As mentioned, the drag and drop interface is what wins the day here. It's very user friendly and clean.
So far, my clients only use this for simple newsletters, but the drip feature among other things certainly makes this a valuable tool when they are ready to use the other functionality Mailchimp has to offer.
Successes - I would say my clients getting repeat business because of the emails we send out via MailChimp is a big one.

Lessons - not much to say here. I haven't really had any issues with the software.
Mailchimp (free version) is most suitable for independent freelance type of businesses as well as smaller businesses that have less than 2,000 subscribers on their mailing list. One does not need to be tech savvy as there is a nice drag and drop interface to build emails, though there is certainly the option to write your email in HTML code if one chooses.
