Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft SharePoint

We use it to organize, share, and distribute information. It is a good way to publish information to different departments so they can find general information about our team and what we do. It fulfills multiple needs as a landing page for team info, a wiki, and document storage while keeping it all fairly organized.

Pros

  • Document storage
  • Collaboration
  • Team sites for general info

Cons

  • Pages can be hard to hard
  • Permissions can be confusing
  • The Different types of sites can get confusing
  • Better organization
  • Easier to share info
  • Easier to share documents
Atlassian Confluence isn't as robust with document storage but it does provide a good way to share detailed information in article or Wiki format. Microsoft SharePoint is more like a lightweight webpage creation tool while Confluence more like an enhanced notebook. Microsoft SharePoint is better with lists while Confluence is more like a word editor.

Do you think Microsoft SharePoint delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Microsoft SharePoint's feature set?

Yes

Did Microsoft SharePoint live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Microsoft SharePoint go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Microsoft SharePoint again?

Yes

It is a good product overall but can be confusing or seem disorganized at times. It has advantages over competitor products such as Atlassian Confluence. It is best suited for document storage. It can also perform well for FAQ's, Wiki's, and landing pages for department or team information to share within a company.
