Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Teams

In my opinion, it has a thousand features and integrates with a million apps, but can't do its primary function well. In my experience, unreliable message delivery, unreliable notifications, unreliable hardware support, unreliable AI, plenty of bugs.

Pros

  • Large conference calls
  • File sharing

Cons

  • In my experience, plenty of bugs and unreliable features
  • In my opinion, terrible UX
  • Artificial restrictions in usability
  • Constant ads about other MS products
  • Negative impact on team morale
  • Negative impact of productivity
In my opinion, terrible UX, thing taking more time to learn and more clicks to do than they should - if they are possible at all. I think Chats and Channels have an artificial and unnecessary distinction, and are on different tabs so you can't see them side by side, and you have to click to switch between them all the time.Lots of missing settings - it supports rich text by default, with no option to disable it. Every time you copy-paste from light/dark mode it will copy the color/font/size and often make the message unreadable. You can't edit or even disable hotkeys - so whenever you try to paste without formatting, you are 1 key away from starting a call in the entire chat of possibly hundreds of people. In my opinion, crazy restrictions - I can only pin 15 chats. Why?! It feels MS wants to make chats worse, to force us into channels. Only one pinned message per chat. No threads in chats. No option to group and collapse chats like Slack does. Which means in Teams you will always have to scroll down the list or type in the chat name. Unlike the Slack way of clicking once on a predictable, convenient location.Constant updates which may or may not fix problems, but always make new ones. Recently during 1:1 calls whenever someone shares their screen the call started freezing. It doesn't happen in large conference calls.
I only use Teams because I am forced by my employer. I think Slack is far superior - it just works.

Do you think Microsoft Teams delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Microsoft Teams's feature set?

No

Did Microsoft Teams live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Microsoft Teams go as expected?

No

Would you buy Microsoft Teams again?

No

To me, its only advantage is that it can support larger calls than Slack. And I suppose it is free if you have Office 365 and don't pay for AI.

In my opinion, for that you will pay for with lower team morale and lower productivity.I have sets of screenshots where for one person one of the messages in the middle of the conversation is simply missing. I've had important questions sent during work hours delivered long after work hours. I've scrolled yesterday's chats to see important review requests that simply were not there yesterday. It only happens when the network is busy - maybe they have better networks in MS and haven't seen it. But it can cause a lot of grief.
