Mimecast Review
Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Advanced Email Security
We use Mimecast as a secure email gateway for our M365 environment. Services we utilize are Spam Detection, Malware Detection, Content Examination, DMARC Analyzer, Journaling, Document Services, CyberGraph, Impersonation Protection. Our end users receive daily reports on held messages and IT support team members are able to release and whitelist known good senders.
Pros
- Secure Email Gateway
- Daily Digest Summaries
- DMARC Analyzer
- Rule Based Access Controls
- Documentation
Cons
- Improved Identity Based Rules and filter
- Improved User Interface. Delete Button should not be next to Delete All Button (No confirmation)
- Explanation of policy order of operations
- Increased Email Security
- Decrease in unwanted emails to users
- Improved reporting compared to M365 services
We switched from Postini about 10 years ago. Postini was acquired and we successfully moved over while preserving blocked and allowed lists.
Abnormal isn't a gateway, but instead performs similar security features via M365 apis. It is very "identity" focused which helps with more modern scams.
M365 has some email security tools, but they are not as customizable or reportable. Mimecast tools far exceed them.
