Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Advanced Email Security

We use Mimecast as a secure email gateway for our M365 environment. Services we utilize are Spam Detection, Malware Detection, Content Examination, DMARC Analyzer, Journaling, Document Services, CyberGraph, Impersonation Protection. Our end users receive daily reports on held messages and IT support team members are able to release and whitelist known good senders.

Message tracking is my favorite feature and most used. It is much easier than M365 and is my goto. Policies and Definitions take some getting used to, but after a while it is a consistent experience. Certain features like Cybergraph and Dmarc feel like they have a much newer interface.
For email flow and delivery, I do think the integration is smooth. Through acquisitions we have migrated several environments and each has been straight forward.
Although there is some API functionality, lots of features are missing from it. This has led to some very manual tasks that pragmatically could have saved our teams days of work.
We switched from Postini about 10 years ago. Postini was acquired and we successfully moved over while preserving blocked and allowed lists.
Abnormal isn't a gateway, but instead performs similar security features via M365 apis. It is very "identity" focused which helps with more modern scams.

M365 has some email security tools, but they are not as customizable or reportable. Mimecast tools far exceed them.

Overall we feel Mimecast is a solid secure email gateway. It is our first layer of defense and greatly reduces spam and unsafe messages from arriving in our end users mailboxes.
That said, its interface can be difficult to navigate. Certain design choices are problematic and we are repeatedly assured are being corrected "next" quarter. Things like lists having a delete all button right next to a delete button have repeatedly caused issues. Certain features are not included in their API which makes automation difficult.
