Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I use Miro for everything from teaching, to research, content management, and sharing content with collaborators. If Miro had a folder system to hide and show content to general users based on phases it would be valuable. Often times the board becomes slow and the loading of content stops production. If we were able to either go into folders to access different miro board levels embedded within the board that would be incredible.
  • Territorializes information
  • Accepts embeddings
  • New alignment tools are super useful with edit capabilities
  • Sharing features are easy
  • Mass content management - Slow with more content
  • Searchable content on the board
  • Making multiple levels of embedded or blocked off canvases
  • Streamlines communication of graphic ideas
  • Allows for easy sharing on Desktop devices. Not mobile
  • Many different styles of work are represented on the same board
I was the reason the university and the studio environment still uses this software. Will continue to use it until a better alternative becomes available. Mass content displayed in the same space is an issue but can be mediated if portions of the board can be blocked off at specific times.
We already did wall pin-ups and these were replaced with Miro during covid. This and Zoom were the only software that remained staples in the current work environment. The searchability and mechanisms to hyperlink portions of the board without the use of lines is non-existent. This has been one of the best tools and has remained so for graphics education, architecture, and other highly visible fields.
Collaboration was relatively easy, but Miro did not create any new paradigm for working collaboratively. A lot of the features are knee-jerk reactions to what the public expects. However, it is a valuable replacement and easy to use because of its familiarity and nearly one-to-one replacement of the generic pin-up. It's what we needed but more is to be desired with the capabilities of the web or an app in general.
I cannot remember the other alternative programs. Most of them were too drawing and sketch focused without good diagramming capabilities. Diagramming was the reason we stuck with Miro and its ability to post many images.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

I recommend this to everyone I know. Architectural education where we need to see the lineage of representations through iteration to share with the class. Diagramming and blocking out content. Please improve the diagramming capabilities! These could be super powerful like machinations. Group work is great with the focus feature. Increase the amount of file formats that can be stored on the board as icons rather than the actual file content. If we could put 3d files on there as a way of storing them rather than viewing it would help in so many cases such as asset sharing.
