Overall Satisfaction with Miro
As an architect diagrams are my best friend. I use Miro on daily basis to show and explain business or technical problem and solution architecture. Many times I used to draw some block diagram on the fly to get hold on conversation, show back the raw diagram to reflect back on my understanding. It very handy and I love the freedom and drawing as big or small as I want.
Pros
- Handy easy to use
- Infinite drawing board with smooth zoom in and out
- Ready to use AWS icons
- Easy to share and embed in confluence
Cons
- Patterns for background like draw.io, as of now its support only colors + opacity
- Transition during presentation mode, like in power point
- Ability to choose view point when embedding in confluence. When board has multiple diagrams, can not choose which one to show by default in on confluence page
- Definitely improved productivity
- Encouraged team member to document more by simply drawing diagrams with lengthy text
As an architect, I work with multiple distributed team located across US, Canada, Ireland and India. Miro is pivotal tool for us to work together and collaborate. Sharing design diagrams on Miro, allowing other team members to edit and provide feedback is breeze. Team also uses it to run brainstorming sessions and run scrum ceremony meeting specially retro meetings.
Microsoft Viso - Seems old style and it's complicated to use some of the advanced features. Diagrams look flat and dry. Lately AWS stopped stopping icons in visio which is pain. Copying images/icons from the internet works but not creates friction in the user experience.
draw.io - I tried it recently after using Miro for sometime as some team mates were praising so much but didn't find it good enough to leave Miro. Default thin arrows and flat look of diagrams like in visio
