Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I use Miro almost every day for my job as a Design Researcher. My company is remote, so I use Miro to run sprints with my colleagues, visualize flow charts, journey maps, or brainstorm. It's been very helpful in being able to serve as a virtual whiteboard that allows my colleagues and me to edit in real time and collaborate, despite being states away. I also use Miro to perform affinity diagramming after I conduct user interviews to find common themes or similar patterns. I wouldn't be able to do my work as effectively as I do without using Miro as a main tool!

Pros

  • Virtual whiteboard - specifically for sticky notes and clustering ideas
  • Templates for mapping, diagramming, or charts
  • Interactive activities such as sprints, voting, or visual presentations

Cons

  • AI features for clustering
  • Auto-sizing on the board
  • Please let us add images in cards!!!
  • Collaboration
  • Creativity
  • Productivity
  • Agile team flow
Miro is a lot easier to use if you have a mouse and keyboard, while it's doable with a trackpad, the usability is not as smooth. Also, for some of my older colleagues, it can be very small and hard to read and navigate around the board. Overall, with some learning it is very easy and intuitive

Second to Miro, we use google suites for documents, slides, and sheets. We also use Asana. In a perfect world, we'd use one platform that can support all of that, but there is a good chunk of the organization that does not use Miro at all, so moving to a one platform would be a tough sell. That being said, the ability to quickly link things in Miro and try and consolidate as much as possible is very helpful.
I used Mural about 5 years ago at my old job and the capabilities were not nearly as fluid as Miro in what we could do. If I recall correctly, the board size was not infinite and we'd often run out of space. There were also not nearly as many tools or templates that we had at our disposal

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Virtual sprints with my colleagues: being able to collaborate and work on projects while we are all remote is a game-changer

Miro is not as helpful when I need to prototype interactions and I tend to use Figma as the capabilities are more fluid for testing interactions and flow of experience
