Overall Satisfaction with Miro
We use Miro a lot in my org. We use it for story mapping, release roadmapping, Epic Estimations, Product Inception Canvases, organizing feedback and prioritizing items that the teams will be working on. We also utilize it for visualization for what releases may look like, identifying risks or spikes for the teams. It helps us see the overall view of the releases and then we build it out from there.
Pros
- Story Mapping
- Release visualization and building out the roadmap
- Organizing key priorities into different areas of focus
- Creating the Product Inception Canvas for release kick-offs
- Mindmapping
Cons
- Retrospective Templates - it feels too clunky to use sticky notes for this activity and it feels chaotic when the whole team is in Miro moving things around.
- It's very easy to mess up the boards if you're not careful.
- Would like there to be an easier template to use to build out roadmaps for releases - you have to be so careful with the current templates not to mess things up. It would be nice to be able to have it be more fluid.
- Miro has had a great impact on ROI for our company. We use it to build out all of our upcoming releases so it helps the team visualize the big picture and identify gaps and risks very easily.
- It's a great tool for identifying areas of improvement via the sticky notes and then compiling similar ideas under areas of focus. It's easy to move things around and experiment.
- Miro allows us to fully envision what our releases will look like initially using a Product Inception Canvas and then building out to identify high-level requirements (Epics) and then identifying the stories and bugs that will deliver that Epic. We can change our minds and experiment. We can add, delete, and combine items. We can identify risks and spikes. We also can link to Jira tickets via the integration, which we use heavily.
The sticky notes and the user story mapping templates are the most used features. The AI integration has been super helpful also. I asked AI to take an excel sheet with 50 line items and asked it to create each line item as a sticky note on my board and it did it perfectly! It saved me so much time and effort!
Miro is our virtual whiteboard that we use for all teams' collaboration and execution, but we use a separate tool for our Retrospectives because we feel that Miro's experience with the sticky notes is too clunky. We also use Miro to organize and prioritize instead of Excel or Asana.
