Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used SharePoint interdepartmentally to share internal files safely and securely within our Office 365 framework.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Integrates well with Windows and Mac machines.
Works independently and with other Microsoft applications well.
Safe and secure cloud storage for files.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve to onboard new users.
Slow workflow.
Not a lot of support for apps outside of the Microsoft cosmos.

Return on Investment

Standalone, there are better platforms with more integration.
If you already are an Office 365 user, cost is more acceptable and integration with other Microsoft products.
Safe and secure storage is key.

Alternatives Considered

Dropbox Business and Google Drive

Dropbox and Drive both have more 3rd party integration, although they may not be as secure.

As a creative, I find SharePoint a bit restrictive, that said from an organizational standpoint, companies already subscribing to the Microsoft Suite can easily adopt it for important document storage and sharing.
