Overall Satisfaction with New Relic

We use New Relic across our organization for most of our deployments to track and monitor SLO metrics. To instrument New Relic, [it's] very straightforward and very easy. We just have to use the NPM and wola, you are done. The main reason for using New Relic is its ease of use.
  • Ease of instrumenting.
  • Automatically gathers lots of metics.
  • Very few involvement required.
  • I don't think, New Relic has on premise installer.
  • Don't know if New Relic has some ]offers] that can work without sending the data out of ]a] private network.
  • May be having some automatic templates that we can pick for setting alerts.
  • Plug and play.
  • It saved us lot of time.
  • We don't have to implement all by ourselves.
As I said earlier, [New Relic] can very easily track and monitor all the endpoints and the DB queries and can show us the top slow-performing endpoints. It also helps us to nail down the issue. Also, once fixed, it will help us to see whether the fix is really working or not.
New Relic is really great product that we have used by just plugging into our system, New Relic can track metrics that can be tracked by Prometheus by using open metrics. Open metrics plugin is very very useful. It will help you in switching from Prometheus to New Relic very very easily.
Yeah, New Relic is very well designed to help DevOps teams accelerate development cycles and improve stability by monitoring performance, creating alerts and dashboards, and measuring impact. DevOps in the organization has been very very happy as they are getting all the monitoring, alerts, and dashboards very very easily. Also, as it's very to set up New Relic.
Prometheus is open source and it's [a] bit tough to configure and monitor, it has some plugins to help. The main advantage of Prometheus is we can install on-prem and data doesn't have to leave the network. On the contrary, New Relic is easy to set up and very very easy to keep on top of SLO metrics.
[New Relic] will automatically track and monitor the number of DB queries and can easily show the paths that are not performing well. You can easily identify the paths that are not performing and fix them. Once fixed, we can very easily check whether the fix has improved or worsened it.
