Overall Satisfaction with New Relic
We use [New Relic] for monitoring database and application performance. Used by IT department for now [and] helps in understanding the performance root cause with application and database.
Pros
- Application monitoring.
- Alerting and notifications for important metrics.
- Flow of events for a particular process.
Cons
- Should add more metrics for AWS RDS and Redshift.
- Have database alerts at more granular level.
- Notifications for service pack and CU update.
- Able to identify the flow to find actual performance cause.
- Ability to see system usage at any specific point of time.
- Not having blocking and other database alerts at more granular level.
We do have SQL Monitor, DPA, SolarWinds, etc but New Relic actually helping us to get most of the information in [a] single platform. with the centralized dashboard, it is quite easy to monitor and get notified before the actual issue. There [is] some enhancement we will definitely look in New Relic to capture queries in [a] more detailed manner.
