Overall Satisfaction with OneDrive

I use onedrive extensively to store and share files across team of 50+ engineers. I have been long term user of onedrive and found it to be very reliable with no down time in so far experience. In the team I encourage the members to keep all the work on onedrive all time and share with relevant members so that they can pickup and use without avoid any dependency on the person to be available all time and laptop dependency. Also during the last 2 years this proved to be very useful. The permission settings for file or folder level are great and quick preview all are useful. The app support both on mobile and desktop either mac/windows is great. And special mention for the new feature which got added recently to only show file names and download only on demand is great.

Pros

  • online storage of files without any size limit

  • preview of all files without downloading and download only those as per demand

Cons

  • random issues with files not syncing on Mac OS
  • download speed for large files is slow sometimes gets limited to 5MBps
  • better performance in webapp would be great
  • reliable cloud storage

  • Reduced costs by spending on reliable cloud storage
  • privacy and security issues resolved with files being wrongly shared
  • easy to get started for new users as the interface is simpler to use
Though Dropbox has been in existence and popular, I found OneDrive to be much more effective in terms of pricing. And app support is better with OneDrive. Also as mentioned the new feature of not downloading all files but showing the names gets my vote for OneDrive. One more feather in favour of OneDrive would be the integration with rest of Microsoft software suite

Onedrive's reliable cloud storage features are invaluable for sharing documents and files across team members. The app support and updates are all great and works well on multiple OS and mobile platforms. With office 365 the bundled storage of 1TB is more than sufficient for major uses and I can manage without spending much on high configuration laptops with larger SSDs.
