Overall Satisfaction with OneNote

We use OneNote in my organization to share information about processes and applications that are shared across teams. It is very helpful to have a centralized spot to have documentation that can be viewed and edited by everyone that needs it. The app allows the data to be well organized and jotted down quickly.

Pros

  • quick note taking
  • shared easily
  • easily divided and organized

Cons

  • syncing problems across devices
  • can get confusing with other similar apps like SharePoint and Teams
  • conflict warnings can show up that aren't really a conflict
  • knowledge transfer is easier
  • note taking is improved
  • documentation is easier to update
It is easy to use day to day and has become a common use application like Outlook or Teams. There is little to no learning curve, and you can use it in the way that is most suitable for you. Features like moving sections of text around and creating new tabs is self-explanatory.
OneNote is part of the Microsoft stack, so it integrates well if you are already using that. It is quick to use and works on multiple devices like desktop and phone.

Confluence may be better for things like wikis and more robust for content it can display. I remember being able to use widgets or something similar.

Do you think OneNote delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with OneNote's feature set?

Yes

Did OneNote live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of OneNote go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy OneNote again?

Yes

I really like how easy it is to take quick notes and have them be synced across multiple devices. Being able to fall back on reliable documentation is valuable.

Wikis can get a little tricky as you can only go a few levels deep. More levels would allow for better organization when needed.
