Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely

We use Optimizely whenever we make a change to our www website or onboarding process. It allows us to see the true impact of our design, marketing, and onboarding decisions. This has been interesting because some things have no long-term impact and others do, yet they aren't always the pieces we'd imagine. (We also use KISSmetrics for long-term tracking, and tie it all together with Segment.io.)
  • Easy to use. Whether we're doing redirects or changing the DOM, it's pretty easy to figure out.
  • Segment.io integration. Makes it trivially easy to implement and to reuse our existing events and goals.
  • Reasonable pricing.
  • Tests that involve redirects can be a little awkward to setup and modify.
  • No serverside tracking for longer-term events. (We use KISSmetrics for this though, and Optimizely connects nicely with that.)
  • Higher conversion rate from visitor to signup to paying customer.
The only real requirement is that there is somebody reasonably technical to actually implement it and manage the tests. Also, setting the goals and the overall analytics / metrics strategy isn't something that should be taken lightly. Without a solid foundation to test on, adding Optimizely wouldn't be nearly as useful.
