Overall Satisfaction with Parallels Remote Application Server

Our office environment is based on Dell Wyse thinclients which and laptops for remote users. With Parallels Remote Application Server, we have 24x7 secure access to our RDS environment which we use for managing and supporting our customers.
We also advise and implement at our customers for facilitating remote works in their IT environments.
And last but not least, we deliver a Managed Hosted Desktop service 'BusinessDesktop' from our data-center via Parallels RAS.
  • Lightweight installation, one server can already do the whole job
  • Provisioning of the Dell Wyse Thinclients
  • Upgrades without downtime in a multi-server setup would be nice
  • Wyse thinclient options configuration from the GUI
  • Postive: low maintenance labor
  • Positive: low costs per user
  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (formerly XenDesktop) and Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMan)
Parallels Remote Application Server is easier for implementation and maintenance. Cheaper than Citrix.
HTML is working very good and some users are stating to use that on Chomebooks. The other clients deliver a great and constant experience.
This flexibility is cool, yes, on a broker for all platforms. We don't need it for multiple platforms at one customer, but it is great to have one tool to do the job in whatever environment. Remote PC feature is also very nice, which can be used to include a legacy client.
All the benefits of native RDP, without the security issues. Simple and great.
The new built-in MFA solution makes security even simpler and cheaper. No discussion with the customer about extra costs for RSA-tokens or other paid MFA solutions, it's in the package. No extra servers or services, it's integrated. Security is right out of the box.
They are fast and good. But we need them rarely.

Yes

Yes

Did Parallels Remote Application Server (Parallels RAS) live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Parallels Remote Application Server (Parallels RAS) go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Parallels Remote Application Server (Parallels RAS) again?

Yes

Parallels already is very usable in small (5 users) RDS or VDI environments and scales up very well. Although we don't have experience with 500+ users in a farm. The use of Parallels eliminates the use of SSL-VPN solutions and is a perfect match for serving legacy applications to a modern-workspace user.
