Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

Paylocity is our primary timekeeping, HR, payroll and onboarding solution. We implemented it to replace paper time cards and messy, inaccurate time off calendars. We use it to centralize timekeeping in 4 locations, enabling payroll to be processed from a central office rather than by local branch managers. In addition, we used it to modernize our onboarding process by digitizing mandatory forms, distributing the company handbook, and simplifying direct deposit for employees.

Pros

  • New Hire Onboarding
  • Tracking PTO and sick leave
  • Shift Scheduling
  • Timeclock kiosk
  • Payroll reporting

Cons

  • Splitting the service into multiple sites/pages is confusing
  • Payroll processed in a fraction of the time it would take with paper cards
  • Post-payroll processing reports give immediate data on overtime costs
  • Onboarding is completed prior to first day of work, so employee spends less time filling out paperwork and more time training on their first day.
Most of the automation benefits for us have been in the onboarding space, as well as reducing the amount of paper consumed during a new hire onboarding, since everything is digital.

Custom reports automatically run when payroll processing is complete, speeding up things like 401k and benefits payments.
We have not utilized these tools within Paylocity.
After using it for 8 years, I still find it difficult to navigate certain functions. Each module is treated like a separate application, so "HR and Payroll" is separate from "Time and Labor" and "Onboarding" and "Surveys." Administration can be difficult because each page will have its own settings, some of which are buried and difficult to find.

Would you buy Paylocity again?

Yes

Paylocity is ideal for companies with multiple locations. We find it useful for tracking employee time across locations in two states. Also, in locations where you may not have an office manager or branch manager, employees are able to input their PTO requests, change their direct deposit, update tax forms or demographic information.
