Overall Satisfaction with Planview Projectplace

Disclaimer here - we did a 30 day demo of the full version when trying out many project management platforms and wanted to exhaustively test the forms/intake requests and project management features for managing multiple departmental areas. We were using it just for our department. Just our campus location and we set it up exclusively in English (not sure if other languages are supported).
  • Request forms are adequate and customizable
  • Supports multiple views
  • Has calendar/meeting space/zoom integration
  • Kanban boards took a while to figure out how to add files, custom tags, etc.
  • The documents pane could use better organizational tools
  • Steep learning curve for our application needs
  • Overview dashboard isn't customizable (that we could find)
  • We needed activities (projects) to contain multiple sub projects for campaigns - couldn't find that functionality but maybe it was buried

Do you think Planview ProjectPlace delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Planview ProjectPlace's feature set?

Yes

Did Planview ProjectPlace live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Planview ProjectPlace go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Planview ProjectPlace again?

No

Good set of onboarding videos, but they didn't seem to dig down into features. We were basically poking around in the software at times trying to figure out some features. They do have webinars you can join and a pretty robust support section on their site, but I would say be prepared to do some research to figure out the optimum configuration.
There are a ton of features we did not get to explore due to the time constraints but they seem to cover all the bases for pretty much any workflow. If you have the time (and money) to iron out all the wrinkles I can see this platform being very useful.
Most of the apps we tried were explicitly marketed for creatives, but some of them did not offer more agency minded features like Kanban boards and request forms which we have grown accustomed to. We eventually selected another solution instead of Projectplace.
Looks like it can handle a wide variety of workflows. [It] has a ton of tools and includes communication built in (messaging/Zoom video). If you have the time to configure it properly it could be extremely powerful.
