Overall Satisfaction with Procore

We use it across the whole company. Some more than others depending on department. For instance, because we use a different accounting software our accounting department doesn't use it as much as our operations side. Mainly organizational and standardization. Everything is one place and is done in a standard way. Before everyone kind of did their own thing. Now we all have to do it the same way. It makes it easier to access other projects and know that the information you are looking for is in a standardized folder system.

Pros

  • My favorite things are the Plans & Specs input into Procore. The OCR software does a great job of reading the plans and specs and separating them out by trade or spec section. Makes it easy to find information.
  • Continuing with plans and specs, the ability to link RFI's, Submittals , Inspections, Photos etc. To plans and specs is awesome. It allows more flexibility in the field so if you are doing one of those things you don't have to drag a set of plans/specs around with you.
  • I really like the Bid Tool. When putting a bid package together it makes it so easy to find vendors based on CSI codes, or if they are DBE/MBE, or proximity to jobsite etc.

Cons

  • Once a picture is uploaded to the Photos area of Procore it cannot be deleted. Only moved to the recycle bin. Be careful with those Vegas pictures.
  • You cant drag whole folders into the directory within Procore. You can in Procore Drive.
  • When dragging folders sometimes not everything makes it over. Do a little at a time.
  • I think overall it is a positive. Unfortunately we are still in the roll out phase (using for about 4 months) and have not really seen any ROI other than peoples enthusiasm in using it.
  • The only real negative impact is the time involved in learning it. You will see a dip in productivity as people learn the software and get used to using it.
  • I believe that people will see a benefit when it comes to keeping up with things like RFI's & Submittals. It seems these two things always fall between the cracks and Procore is awesome at tracking important project info.
  • Spitfire Project Management
Procore is more intuitive and easier to move around in. Spitfire was tedious to move around in and didn't offer the functionality (ie Bidding) that Procore offers. Things may have changed since I last used it but you couldn't put plans in Spitfire. Creating documents was a nightmare, customer support was
not as good as Procore (Procores chat with a customer service rep is awesome).
I think anyone in the construction/engineering world can benefit from it. It is well organized, intuitive to use, and with my firm, once people start using it they love. It is by no means a panacea. However, it does a really good job at what it does do. I would recommend a demo or find another company that uses it and see it at work.
