Overall Satisfaction with Procore

We specifically use Procore in our Data Center group, which specializes in assessment/design/build of mission-critical facilities. Procore acts as the sole source of information around design, specifications, RFI's and submittals. Procore helps us to streamline the flow of information and ensure all parties are working from the most current and relevant information.
  • Submittals: We really like the workflow functionality here, which allows us to assign and easily track where the ball is and who is responsible. It also gives us a repository for information that has proved invaluable - both during the project and following completion.
  • Drawings: The ability to upload drawings and share across all trades, with version history, is extremely helpful. Assures all trades are working from the same drawings, and that the drawings are the most current revision.
  • RFIs: This gives us a place to track questions on design, field changes, issues, etc. It is also a good tool for managing these changes and ensuring they get back into the design drawings throughout the project so that the as-builts are up to date.
  • We use ConnectWise for project managemenet, and all of our financial information needs to be tracked through this software. Due to this, we do not utilize the financial component of Procore. We would love to see a CW integration, so that this module would be useful for us.
  • Lien Waiver tracking: We tried to create a custom tab for this, but it is clunky. Lien Waivers are an important component of our process and we would appreciate a better way to track them.
  • Resource Management: Scheduling and task management is lacking in the Procore tool. We've yet to find the right product that solves the issue of tracking to milestone dates for major deliverables, associated resources, and a comprehensive resource scheduling tool that overlays all projects - showing where the collisions are.
We were required to use Submittal Exchange when we worked underneath a GC on a larger scale construction project. While it contains a lot of the same functionality that we use out of Procore (submittals, RFI's, design documents, specifications), the interface is not user-friendly and the functionality is clunky at best. We'd not used the product before, and in having to do so, we were even more convinced that we'd chosen the correct product in Procore.
The main benefit we've received lies within the increased collaboration between the office and the field. Our designers work out of the office, while our construction supervisors (CS) work in the field. Often times, in the days before Procore, we were finding that the CS was solving issues on site—For example, equipment clearance, conduit collisions, incorrect elevations, etc.—and this information was not making its way back tot he designers. When design issues or questions would subsequently come to the design team, they were working with out of date information because they were unaware of the changes that had occurred in the field. With Procore, most of this pain has been eliminated.
  • Increased efficiency from having all relevant documentation located within the same repository.
  • Decreased the amount of confusion and instances where the wrong "thing" is completed or installed - resulting in less negative impacts on projects overall.
  • Increased team collaboration: leading to a tighter team dynamic.
  • Gain visibility into projects
  • Ensure information is accessible and up to date
  • Document job site conditions
  • Track cost impacts from the field
The various modules around these functions allow us a central repository for the information that is accessible not only throughout, but after the project is complete, so we can look back on historical data. We can easily track things happening in the field from the office, and ensure that the appropriate level of information is communicated across all the disciplines.
We've not utilized any of the integrations. We do not use the other products in-house that have integrations built. We've not had the bandwidth with our internal team to try to use the available API's to develop custom integrations. We would love to use this functionality more, but struggling with how we make it happen at this juncture.
Procore does very well in the design and construction space. It excels with information management between trades and collection of pertinent project documentation. We've found limited use for it in our assessment engagements, where the scope of work is more conceptual and the project team consists of only our internal resources.
