Overall Satisfaction with Pure Storage FlashArray
Our datacenter is 100% virtualized (VMware ESXi) and we upgraded our SAN to Pure Storage over 2 years ago which improved greatly the speed and performance of the servers and applications (especially MS SQL systems).
- SQL queries run faster compared with conventional spin disks SAN.
- VM backups finish faster and restoring the whole VM takes less time.
- Pure Storage has a great de-dupe compression ratio (we are 5.4 to 1)
- It would be nice to have settings like TINTRI where you don't need to create and manage volumes from the SAN, just manage everything from the host servers.
- One positive impact we had was that it saves time for some end users to complete their task faster, making them more productive in the same amount of time.
- Another positive impact we had - we were able to migrate an application from physical to a virtual server, that we could not run on a VM before Pure, because of the latency and speed. This freed up IT resources for managing a stand-alone physical server.
Pure started with all FlashArray since beginning of the company and Nimble was just changing from convectional spin disk to flash, so we selected Pure because of the length on the business with FlashArray SAN and the review and reputation we read about it.
- Faster performance for some application saving time for end users (less time staring at the computer screen)
