Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Online Advanced
QBO is great for smaller to simple mid-size businesses. It's easy to navigate and relatively functional. I have recommended it.
Where I don't recommend is if you have multiple entities typically more than 3. Phathom is a reporting tool that helps with reporting multiple enties, but it's still challenging if you have a lot of due to/from. Another negative is a lot of the new functionality appears to be designed by IT, not accountants. They don't often make sense from an accounting standpoint. However, the typical small business user won't even notice this or have any issues. It really is good for simplistic small businesses.

- QBO is intuitive for the new user
- Can be used by the most novice of accountants
- Can create custom fields for various reporting
- Can create classes and locations
- There are many integrations to banks and payroll companies
- Not great for multiple entities (more than 3)
- Progress invoicing reports are substandard and in need of a serious overhaul.
- POs are missing a major component of approval to pay in the normal accounting world
- The recommendation for how to handle a bounced check online, creates a duplication of the income, falsely inflating income. Do not let your employees follow those instructions.
- Due to the complexity of the business, there is a lot of hoops to jump through that QBO does not handle well. The smaller, less complex business would have a greater ROI. We are bound by our license to use QBO.
Super easy to set up.
Great functionality for users from any location.
There is a serious lack of functionaligy due to having 8 entities/separate sets of books. Also a lack on the reconstruction side of the business with POs, good estimates and progressing invoicing reports. However, the avarage smaller business will not have these issues.
