Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Sage Intacct to provide accounting and controllership services to clients. We perform all sorts of accounting and bookkeeping tasks from Accounts Payable to bank reconciliation. It helps us keep track of transactions and reconcile bank accounts so clients know their balances. several of our clients use it and I perform A/P duties for several clients on Sage Intacct.

Pros and Cons

Navigation is easier than other accounting software. I can find things quickly.
It is straightforward. You can learn easily and probably won't get stuck.
It makes sense to accountants. I like that it uses accounting terms.

I don't like not being able to delete transactions.
I don't like not being able to change a transaction.
I wish it was easier to change payments that are applied to invoices.

Return on Investment

It helps us with check runs.
It is the preferred software for us.
It streamlines our work.

Usability

It is straightforward, but I could see how some people may find it hard. It is more accounting-friendly than other software. For example, it uses accounting terms and is a bit more robust in general that Quick Books Online. Also, having to reverse thing and make journal entries when a mistake is made makes it more difficult.

Support Rating

I am not that familiar with the support capability of Intacct. I haven't personally had to deal with an kind of support issue. However, when the government changed the rules for 1099's this year, the email Sage sent to us helped to fix the vendor issues as soon as we possibly could.

Sage Intacct Automation

Yes, the automation has benefited us through the import feature. The import feature often saves me personally lots of time. I would be entering invoices or receipts for hours on some occasions, but with the import feature, I can sometimes be done in 5 minutes and continue with my work.

Alternatives Considered

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop Pro

Sage is a bit less user friendly, but the end result (let's say a bank reconciliation for example) ends up being a lot cleaner on Intacct because of the accounting-friendly nature of the Intacct software. QuickBooks can have problems that aren't as easy to trace as they would be on Intacct which can be very frustrating.

Likelihood to Recommend

Sage is a useful tool and it makes sense right away for accountants. It was the first software I learned on the job and it ended up making a lot of sense to me even though I was not experienced in real-world accounting. I still find it simple to use and very clean when it comes time for bank recs, etc.

Intacct is a Less User Friendly Option that is Totally Worth the Change
