Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

Fairmount moved to Sage Intacct after a failed implementation of SAP Concur. We engaged Concur to handle payables processing, but after two years with the product, we had experienced no real gain in efficiency or reduction in staff time dedicated to payables. The reporting was also lackluster at best. Around the same time, our Fixed Asset software was expiring as was our budgeting software. We used our EMR for financial reporting, which was limited at best!

Sage has solved multiple issues for us. First, its replaced an entire file room of paper documents, as we now attach all invoices to the electronic record in sage. Our managers LOVE having instant access to their invoices. Second, we have built out far more robust reporting, with each manager having real time access to their actual vs. budget reporting. Our old software required all managers to work with accounting for any kind of detailed reporting, but with sage, managers can drill down and answer 90% of their own questions without the intervention of a finance team member.

We have also used sage to formalize an invoice approval process. We love that approvals are saved on the invoice record, and are easy to show our auditors how each transaction moved through our process.

We see so many future opportunities to continue rolling out new (and automated) reporting to our leadership team!
  • Fixed Asset Management
  • Dynamic reporting
  • Accounts Payable Processing
  • fully integrated donor tracking
  • Fixed asset is older/clunky module. Glad its included in the package, but newer interface would be helpful, along with additional reporting options
  • Custom Report writer - Not super easy to use, but seems to have nearly limitless options.
  • Eliminated 3 software packages by replacing all 3 with sage modules - Saving 20-25% per year
  • Increase manager engagement with financial reporting (Priceless!)
  • Full service licenses are expensive. This has limited our ability to expand to huge numbers of users
We have loved the fully integrated financials with drill down capabilities. This decreased a huge amount of time spent filing invoices, and subsequently pulling them out for manager reference.
We had a 3rd party vendor assist with initial setup.

I think Service oriented businesses with relatively few users are VERY well served by sage. I'd like to try sage in an inventory environment to see how it preforms there.
