Sage Intacct - great software and great price
Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
We use Sage Intaact (along with the related product Sage SIP) as our ERP solution. For our purposes, this mainly means a general ledger and the FP&A solution. Before Sage Intacct, we were on Quickbooks, which we found was not sophisticated enough to manage custom reporting, maintain internal governance, or do FP&A analysis.
Pros
- Maintains internal governance around approvals
- Ability to customize reports based on intended audience
- Seemless integration with Sage Intacct's FP&A tool.
Cons
- I would love to see Sage Intacct have a feature that allows a user to see the G/L impact of a journal entry before it is submitted
- The dashboard feature has a steep learning curve
- Sage Intacct has allowed the finance team to conduct monthly closes faster by around 20 hours
- Custom reporting has allowed investment accounting to be done more accurately
Automation, alongside the emerging AI features, has greatly impacted the organization's cost control. After some extra effort to set up these features, I estimate that our organization has eliminated the need to take on an entry-level bookkeeper. This has been great during a time when there is a shortage of accounting talent.
As an organization with wholly-owned subsidiaries and positions as limited partners in private and alternative investments, Sage Intacct's multi-entity accounting has allowed our organization to save hundreds of hours from having to make the same entries within multiple independent general ledgers and then ensure they are reconciled. We can also do quick drill downs and reconciliations to spot errors and trends as well.
We migrated from Quickbooks as we became more and more aware that that software was not keeping up with our business needs and that more sophisticated software would allow us to automate and save time in the long run. While we were evaluating Sage Intacct, we also evaluated Netsuite. I found Netsuite to be a great solution, but found the price point to be too high for our budget.
