Overall Satisfaction with SAP Commerce Cloud

SAP Commerce Cloud powers our e-commerce on the website. We were looking for a platform that integrated well with our website CMS (Adobe AEM) and also one that could be used for international e-commerce, both of which SAP's product was able to do. It was also appealing that SAP Commerce Cloud is tailored for B2B, because many e-commerce platforms lack tools geared to B2B e-commerce.

Pros

  • The product database that it pulls from is easily accessible and user friendly.
  • Has great OOTB SEO capabilities (not something with most ecomm platforms).
  • Pricing is based on size of store/products, so it is scalable.

Cons

  • The main platform UI is not the best, and can be clunky to manage.
  • Canonicals are not implemented correctly out of the box (OOTB), which is an issue for international storefronts.
  • The platform accelerated our process from interest --> investigation --> purchase.
  • The platform improved SEO marketing for ecomm due to robust SEO features.
  • Issues with canonical tags was disappointing.
Though the UI is clunky and not always the easiest to navigate, I would place the overall learning curve for using it as relatively low. Even our most junior web analysts were able to successfully manage our storefront and get what they needed done on the platform.
Commerce Cloud has significantly better SEO capabilities out of the box. We had to use a third-party plugin tool with Magento to resolve issues with metadata, canonical tags, and other related problems. Given the critical importance of SEO to an e-commerce site, it was the primary driver of our decision to choose SAP Commerce Cloud.

SAP Commerce Cloud is a B2B platform. It seems well-suited for small to medium companies, but I would hesitate to recommend beyond that due to a lack of experience with it. Our product SKU count was 5,000, which seemed like a good number for this platform.
