Overall Satisfaction with SAP Crystal Reports
Crystal Reports is used across the whole organization. It brings data to the hands of decision makers.
- Works well with SQL data sources. I can connect to a lot of different data sources, from MS SQL Server to MySQL and Oracle.
- Overall, Crystal Reports is a good value. You can't do it all, but if you know your way around it you can achieve your goals.
- Export to PDF functions well. This is a great function when creating reports to be emailed.
- Drawing tools need updating. For example, you can't create diagonal lines? It's 2016! Also using images is cumbersome and it does not have the best resolution.
- Would be nice to see more barcode or QR code integration out of the box.
- Saving footer space for every page regarding of the section height is challenging. Consider enabling more control for section management and print.
- Would be nice to have a section to manage global variables. Why do I need to define these every time?
- Telerik and SSRS
I have not tried Telerik first hand. I am concerned with the longevity and support of the product.
SSRS is good, but it does not offer the same level of formatting options as Crystal Reports. SSRS does provide a nice report management interface and it is really easy to share reports with other users. Maybe that would be something that Crystal Reports can incorporate into the software.
