Overall Satisfaction with Shopify Plus

We use Shopify Plus to sell products to customers online, but we are also customers of its payments gateway and international markets product. We've been happy with the platform and the support they have provided, and they seem to have scaled well with our business over the last few years since we started using them.

Pros

  • Very easy to learn & use
  • Simple integrations with most third party software
  • Broad library of apps
  • Outsourced IT department
  • Great product support

Cons

  • Advanced features may be missing for enterprise customers
  • International Markets product lacks support for multiple 3PLs
  • Data privacy compliance tools are somewhat limited
  • Shopify Plus cost is 50%+ lower than hiring your own IT team
  • Can save thousands of dollars on dev costs through the app store
  • Simple third party integrations can save weeks of testing and dev resources
Shopify Plus is the most advanced and most widely accepted "DIY" website tool. While WordPress has some capabilities and is certainly cheaper, it is still a blogging platform with e-commerce capabilities added later, and you can tell that's what it is when you use it. BigCommerce was fine, but you can tell they are largely copying Shopify Plus, who is always a few steps ahead.

While it has its issues for enterprise clients, I would definitely recommend Shopify Plus to anyone who is either starting a new business or is looking to scale their existing business. Shopify's features and popularity make it easy to set up and integrate with most third party software, and signing up for Shopify Plus is essentially like outsourcing your IT team.
