Overall Satisfaction with Skype
Skype is being used as a communication system for instant messaging and for conducting calls and meetings across the entire organization globally. It is used for sending heavy files quickly across to other users, to chat with one or multiple colleagues at the same time, to conduct audio or video calls, and screen sharing with others.
- Instant messaging/chatting is excellent. You can have multiple windows open at the same time.
- Can set notifications when the user's status changes e.g. is online.
- Allows to conduct video calls with multiple people.
- Excellent and modern user interface.
- Works well with iOS.
- Excellent integration with MS Outlook.
- High bandwidth is needed for video calls /screen sharing which at time leads to lag.
- Takes more time to start up when we restart the system.
- Limited features like breakout room, voting options are not available.
- Great for virtual collaboration.
- Instant/all time connection with colleagues.
- Cheaper connectivity for overseas calls.
- Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Skype has an early user advantage as it has been in the market for very long, however, newer tools like Zoom and MS Teams are coming with much better options for its users. Teams is now replacing Skype in our organization as the preferred tool of communication because of its enhanced collaboration feature and integration with MS products.
