Overall Satisfaction with Skype for Business

Skype for Business is being used as an IM, presence and voice solution, making the softphone the substitute for the traditional fixed phone. We have federation with some of our most frequent partners, allowing for faster discussion and problem solving. The ability to have all the Microsoft modules, mainly Outlook, integrated with Skype is really helpful in our day to day job.
  • Organizing meetings
  • IM and Prescence
  • Interaction with PSTN
  • Mobile functionalities
  • Integration with contact centers
  • Integration with other plaforms
  • It's very dependent on the agreement that the company has with Microsoft and the business model used.
  • If the clients wants to have its own infrastructure, the ROI is very high.
  • If the client is using a cloud solution, ROI can be low/medium.
Skype for business and Jabber - The solutions are very similar, but I think that as a user of both, skype offers a more intuitive approach on the communication process, facilitating the learning curve. The integration offered by skype, with Microsoft's productivity tools is better than Jabber. Desktop sharing isn't possible with just Jabber.
Skype for Business is well suited in an IM/presence and voice solution where the client has the need to have a traditional fixed phone port to a softphone solution. The desktop sharing is a very good asset. It is not so good for a client that is used to the fixed phone.
