Don't Slack and Get Slack!
Overall Satisfaction with Slack
We use Slack as our main communication tool since we are mostly remote employees. It helps make sure we have visibility into project comms, can connect with clients using the External Connections, and have one place where we all go for updates and to chat within and across teams. It's great!
Pros
- The ability to have a multitude of channels that can be organized in sections and customized for clarity at a glance
- External connections in order to bring clients into our space without needing to pay for them.
- It connects with a lot of different apps which is super helpful in getting alerts from different platforms.
Cons
- Rather than just a topic pinned to the top of a channel, it would be nice to be able to link resources in a particular area that isn't a pinned post
- I'd like to be able to bulk leave conversations - right now I just have them hidden and muted in a section
- It has made our communication streamlined, especially with the introduction of huddles and Google Meet integration for a quick video call.
- There's no hard data but it has helped record keeping for decisions made within client channels that we can refer back to forever.
