Overall Satisfaction with Slack
Slack is the core communication tool used for our organization. We are a remote-first company, and this allows us to communicate quickly and easily. We also are able to set up external channels with third party partners, which allows for fast back and forth on technical issues or product questions. We rarely use email for inter-office communications any more.
Pros
- Tracks conversations in threads to reduce channel clutter
- Shares documents, links, images, etc easily
- Has multiple integrations with key work tools like Asana, Notion, etc
- Syncs easily between desktop and phone applications & can get Slack notifications in Airpods if I choose
- Allows for easy integration with external business parties for quick, easy communication beyond email
- Searchable history to reference previous discussions as needed
Cons
- Huddles are easy to accidentally start sometimes when you don't mean to
- Room for improvement on your search feature - it isn't as easy to browse answers as I'd like > it wants to send you to the most obvious path but if the answer was obvious, I wouldn't need to search for it. Too many clicks to get to all the options
- I would like the ability to export a channel, or a particular conversation more easily. Example: We share customer feedback from multiple teams in a channel, and I'd like to be able to export it and run it through AI for synthesis
- Definitely positively impacts partnerships > much faster communication over time-sensitive questions
- Allows for a remote first business to communicate rapidly and easily. We would definitely not be as impactful without it.
