Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop Enterprise

Splashtop is being used within my department. There may be other departments within the organization that use it as well but I don't have information about which departments. A few employees within my department have been using it for approximately 7 years or more. At that time, our employer didn't have a solution to remote access. Even though there is one now it continues to have issues, such as not working with Macs and interfering with home VPN's. These are not issues with Splashtop.

Pros

  • Works with Macs
  • Transfer of files/documents from work computer to home computer is simple and quick

Cons

  • While working remotely during COVID, employees that have their workspace in an open area (receptionist) found that if someone was in the office, they would see that her desktop was unlocked and would use it. It wasn't until recently that I discovered the blank screen and lock keyboard and mouse options. Maybe a QRG (quick reference guide) or tips would be helpful.
  • Saved purchasing additional software (such as Photoshop) to be used on a personal computer
I didn't have any issues; however, a couple of my direct reports had issues that couldn't be resolved. This was due to issues with their work computers (freezing, going into sleep mode). They would call Splashtop support. Unfortunately, they didn't understand that the issue wasn't Splashtop.
Except for the issue that once a person has logged into their computer remotely, it is open to anyone that can get to it, I think that it has given me more security. I no longer need to carry information on a USB, and sometimes physical documents, when working remotely. Industry stand encryption and two-factor authentication are required by my employer for my work computer. Having those on Splashtop would provide my employer with the required security.
It was very quick for me but I tend to be very computer savvy. Others I know have struggled.
Yes - I have been using Splashtop for several years. My employer has been trying to replace Splashtop within the organization with a remote desktop. However, the intern remote desktop will not work on Macs. Several people have a Mac as a home computer. The remote desktop doesn't work with my home VPN. I have to turn it off to use the organization's approved VPN and it only covers my connection to my work desktop.

Did Splashtop live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Splashtop go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Splashtop again?

Yes

Any remote work. In the past, I needed to carry a USB drive with projects that I needed to work on off site. When using specific software, that would be costly or difficult to duplicate on a home computer. Using Splashtop means that all of my work documents are kept on my work computer. This avoids my employer's concerns and requirements about work documents on a personal device.
