Overall Satisfaction with Cision Communications Cloud

We use Cision Communications Cloud (TrendKite)* to analyze global media coverage for very specific, time-bound news events and also to understand share of voice over longer periods of time against our key reputation drivers.

*This review was written before Cision acquired TrendKite. TrendKite is now part of Cision Communications Cloud.
  • Very easy user interface to create new dashboards in just a few minutes.
  • The tool creates great interactive reports that can be shared with anyone. The interactive reports don't require the person the be a user to get a rich, custom experience.
  • Very responsive customer service. We have asked Cision to create some rather complicated searches for us, and they have responded quickly and effectively. They also offered great training sessions for our team.
  • It only captures news that's online, so the tool can sometime miss coverage that was in print but not posted to a news website.
  • It would be nice if it captured broadcast coverage more effectively.
  • As with most other machine tools, the sentiment analysis is to be taken with a grain of salt. (That said, it's easy to change tonality in the tool manually.)
We were using Vocus for analytics before, and the Vocus tool was much more difficult for users to set up. Reports were clunky and not interactive.
Cision Communications Cloud is well-suited for high-level analytics, volume of coverage, key message penetration, geographic breakdown, top stories, etc. As a global company, the tool does a good and cost-effective job capturing news from non-English sources versus other tools I've used. It is less appropriate for complex analytics, including sentiment analysis, or coverage reports that require full broadcast and all print publications.

  • Easy to create a dashboard for a basic search in just a couple of minutes.
  • Creating a report is quick and easy. And the fact that the reports are interactive for the receiver is really swell!
  • Honestly, I haven't found anything to be cumbersome to use in the tool.
The tool is extremely easy to use. The interface is intuitive. While some advanced areas require knowledge of Boolean search (or a quick call to customer service), any basic search can be created without any help whatsoever is just a few minutes. The interactive reports are really slick, and I love that the end users don't have to be users of the system to get full functionality.
