As a part of the marketing team, we had to finalize a data analytics platform for our team. The reviews helped us get real-life examples and use cases as how users were using different apps.
Reading those reviews, we were able to jot down the pros and cons of the apps that we considered. We finally finalized on Mixpanel and it helped us massively in reading between the data and making informed decisions.

Yes, vendors were transparent.
TrustRadius stood apart from the rest based on the richness of the reviews.
No, we dont always go with the highest rating product as they can be forged also by the company. So it's always better to skim through couple of reviews and keep the review factor as the main consideration point to buy a product. Rating can be the primary filter where above 7 is a good choice.
When the buyer has to take a custom plan, the pricing plan doesn't really help.
