Overall Satisfaction with Twilio
We send text message reminders to people who sign up for our free video events. We could have just done this in Keap, which is where we handle all our automation, but the cost to send SMS via Keap is many multiple times higher than Twillio, so it was worth doing the integration using PlusThis as the intermediary for simplicity of integration.
Pros
- Low cost SMS
- Wide variety of integrations
Cons
- Directly implementing without integration is challenging
- Doesn't make it easy to identify and remove bad phone numbers
- Shortcodes take a lot of setup
- Improved deliverability of time-sensitive messages
- Likely higher sales from more people seeing them
- Inexpensive way to help ensure customers see messages
We only use one channel. It's for sending reminders and occasional informational messages. These are people who are on our email list and have also opted in to receive SMS messages as well. It's basically an extension of our email marketing, with a higher deliverability. No plans to add more at this time.
We have not really scaled Twilio much at all. It is still a subset of our email subscribers who are also receiving messages through Twilio. We don't have any plans to massively scale this. The increasing restrictions on international SMS has made it challenging to scale widely internationally so far.
