Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance

We use our Unitrends box as backup for our onsite servers and data. It is responsible for backing up all onsite servers and the data contained on them. It is part of our disaster recovery plans and procedures.
  • Quick and automated backups to disk greatly reduced our backup window.
  • Easy setup... had it up and running very quickly.
  • Web based interface that I can access anywhere.
  • Offload for offsite storage... i know there is a cloud option but for users without a great internet connection that isn't always a viable option. We currently right to a disk and take it offsite.
  • Also improve the pricing for the cloud option. Data is only getting bigger.
  • It has decreased our backup window decreasing network traffic during business hours
  • Reduced our purchase of backup tapes
  • Allows us to quickly and reliably recover data
Unitrends crushes Backup Exec in terms of usability and reliability. It seems very comparable to the Barracuda system we used at my previous employer. We went with it based on a recommendation by a backup specialist at CDW.
Unitrends worked great in our environment as a replacement for Symantec Backup-Exec. It seems to work with much less issues/bugs.
