Overall Satisfaction with Vasion Print

We use Vasion Print to implement printers across 400+ clinics nationwide and separate deployment of the printers based on location. Additionally, within our corporate office, we use it for all printers on all floors- separating them based on which floor the printer is on. More specifically within the clinics they connect to a virtual machine that then based on the IP connecting to the virtual machine pick which printers to show to the user.

Pros

  • segregating printers based on location
  • applying the same configuration for a printer to all computers
  • showing known good drivers during setup
  • allowing end users to add printers on their own

Cons

  • When using in a VM environment, sometimes it won't allow a driver recently changed to be re-added, making us change the printer name in Vaison Print each time
  • Sometimes Vaision print won't recognize when a laptop has changed locations (i.e. the IP address changed) and won't push the new printers
  • Even though it supposed to push the same settings ever time, somehow certain computers still get different configurations, leading defaults to have to be selected
  • it may be a configuration issue but Work from home workers are able to print to clinics from home even though they are not supposed to
  • When Vaision print has an outage the whole organization is calling about printer issues
  • quickly deploying printers
  • uniform settings on all computers
  • rapid troubleshooting
  • Less helpdesk calls
  • Single Place for all printer information
It is pretty simple to use when everything works. Administratively adding a printer is a breeze, switching to a later driver is easy. Though when something doesn't work it can feel pretty arbitrary the reason it doesn't work. For end users though it pretty much can't get any easier than pressing 1 button to pull up the add printer screen, and then 2 more buttons to install a printer.
It's been pretty convenient! I don't work administratively with the tool other than adding printers but it does feel more secure as opposed to servers. The only main downside is that when Vaision Print goes down for a few hours all we can do is twiddle our thumbs. But when it's up it is great to just tell users to hit a single button to pull up all the printers in their location

Do you think Vasion Print delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Vasion Print's feature set?

Yes

Did Vasion Print live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Vasion Print go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Vasion Print again?

Yes

Vaison Print is great when you have many different locations where printers are needing to be used- I.E. many branch offices. One situation that might not work well is in a secure environment where printers need to be removed as you go- such as a government office as Vaison Print does not remove previously added printers. This can lead to documents accidentally being printed in the wrong location
