The best product with a great price
Overall Satisfaction with Vasion Print
We use Vasion Print (formerly Printer Logic) as a replacement for Microsoft's Windows Print Server. Since deploying, the solution has been great! We deploy a printer one time, then make sure the agent is installed on all computers, and the printer is automatically mapped to all appropriate computers. We recently learned that there are custom configurations for how often computers check in to the server for updates. This has allowed us to make sure all computers are up to date with the latest drivers and configuration standards desired.
Pros
- Stable platform
- Customizable configuration settings
- Reasonable cost
Cons
- Better documentation
- Reduced the manhours spent managing Windows Print Server
- The annual cost of licensing was less than the manhours spent previously.
We deploy the printer on the server, then create a hostname mask, to identify which workstations should have this printer installed. Once the agent is installed on the workstation, it automatically checks in and maps all of the appropriate printers. We don't have to go back to the individual workstations for updates.
Before I talk about how good Vasion Print is, I would like to highlight how poor TrustRadius site is. In the previous question, it asked me to identify other companies or products evaluated. Of the four other companies, which were all in the top 10, only one was available to select. Very poor TrustRadius! Vasion Print (formerly Printer Logic) had all the features we wanted for a lower cost than the other companies offerings.
