Overall Satisfaction with VNC Connect
VNC Connect is a solid remote support tool used by my staff. Since our team is small and we support many users we utilize remote support options as much as possible. We use it for remote troubleshooting, in-house and offsite and the product works reliably. We also use it during our audiovisual events to control presentation laptops. This enables us to remain out of sight and assist presenters with their presentations remotely from the back of the room.
- Remote connections in-house work flawlessly.
- Remote connections offsite work well - dependent on internet connections.
- Works extremely well with assisting remote presentations - no lag time.
- Its a pretty straight forward product - I would like to see more tools with a "wow" factor.
- Panel colors are blah - I would like more eye-catching colors.
- A more consistent look with all platforms - like Mac & PC.
- Reduces technician-to-desktop visits by 35%.
- Promotes the ideology of fast and efficient service.
- Reduces customer frustration with waiting for service.
VNC Connect works just as well as the top products on the market. At the time VNC Connect was priced better and provided us with a simple reliable tool. VNC Connect works well cross-platform which is important to our institute as we are a 60/40 PC to Mac ratio. Reliability cross-platform is critical to our environment.

VNC Connect Feature Ratings
Using VNC Connect
10 - We have multiple departments that utilized VNC Connect. Our Helpdesk team which uses the tool for remote troubleshooting also uses it for supporting Audio Visual Events. Our Network Team that uses it for remote troubleshooting for users also uses it to troubleshoot and connect to servers. Some of our Scientific staff use it to connect to systems remotely when running long-term experiments.
4 - Skillsets required to support VNC Connect include basic knowledge of network protocol such as using IP's and understanding bandwidth and packet loss. Tech's and users also require PC & Mac knowledge. Tech's also need to have the ability to run tests between systems prior to our AV Events or when working with VIP users, as they are on strict and busy schedules.
- Remote support in-house.
- Remote support offsite.
- Screensharing and remote controlling during audiovisual events.
- Filesharing.
- Use on Mac & PC.
- Works well in large rooms with multiple users.
- Works well over offsite Internet connections.
- Works well when videos are present on remote systems - not much lag-time on the remote control system.
- This depends on the direction of the product.
- If they integrate artificial intelligence into the product we would consider this option.
Evaluating VNC Connect and Competitors
Yes - We replaced Bomgar with VNC Connect. Bomgar worked well but when it came time to replace the in-house appliance server we had to weigh the cost of that versus a different service. VNC Connect didn't require an in-house appliance so the cost was dramatically different. Since we are a non-profit company we have to go with a product that delivers and has an efficient cost associated with it.

- Product Usability
- Product Reputation
- Prior Experience with the Product
The most important factor is reliability across different platforms and over wireless and wired connections. We have utilized this product on a 1 to 1 connection in large halls and in-house with regular users. It's very easy to use and doesn't require the customer to endure multiple steps for a connection.
If I had to do it again I would probably engage in unknown vendors as the technology keeps evolving and the services are becoming more efficient.
VNC Connect Implementation
- Implemented in-house
Change management was minimal
- User training
- Customer training - when connecting to their systems

No - We honestly never had to call tech support as the product worked flawlessly. Our technicians are very knowledgable of remote support tools so we can troubleshoot and fix issues on our own. There was no need to purchase premium support.
