WatchGuard AuthPoint Review
Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard AuthPoint
We currently use WatchGuard AuthPoint across our entire organization as a way of enabling 2FA for both our emails and computers. We find it to be a great solution for protection against possible password compromises as you are alerted should someone try to log in, and are able to respond quickly and appropriately as you can also tell if it was the computer or email account that was compromised.
Pros
- Multiple options for 2FA - you can have pushes sent to your phone, a constantly refreshing OTP, or a QR code scanner.
- Security for MFA - you are able to set up additional security on the tokens that you use, either through additional security codes or biometrics so that if your phone is compromised, there is an additional layer of security for that token.
- Easy to install - Takes less then 30 seconds to install, and is not specific to computers, so it can be rolled out across an entire organization easily.
Cons
- Push Timeouts - There is currently no way to cancel a push that is waiting for a response, so if there is any issue, you have to wait for the timeout.
- Backend viewability - The backend defaults to view 25 users at a time, and there is no option to change this, so in larger organizations, you will constantly be changing this.
- WatchGuard has prevented unauthorized access to users accounts after they have fallen for phishing attacks, preventing massive data breaches and possible client relation damage.
- Azure Multi-Factor Authentication (Discontinued)
WatchGuard AuthPoint provides more authentication options the Microsoft Azure Multi Factor Authentication did, and with further ways to protect the multifactor tokens from being breached in the event that a phone or security device was left unlocked or unattended.
We currently have clients that are situated in other states then our main business, but because WatchGuard AuthPoint is in the cloud, we are able to remotely manage, install and maintain these services with ease. We are able to completely roll it out remotely, and provide users with conditional access should they lose access to their authenticating device.
