Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security

WatchGuard performs routing, firewall, IPS, content filtering, antivirus, and antispam functions at the edge of our core network, and interconnects all of our branch offices. We also provide a mobile VPN to our users. We also utilize WatchGuard Dimension to keep track of security threats and provide the information required to meet PCI-DSS compliance standards.
  • Branch office VPN.
  • Centralized management.
  • Ease of deployment.
  • Mobile SSL VPN client needs a start-before-logon capability.
  • Dynamic routing (OSPF, BGP) should have better integration with management tools.
  • Previous Cisco ASA devices were difficult to manage and would experience random lockups. This problem is eliminated with WatchGuard.
We deployed all WatchGuard devices ourselves.
It is easy to get technicians that don't have in-depth networking knowledge to be able to understand how WatchGuard products work.
As long as you are aware of the product limitations (such as spanning tree) then your implementations will be smooth.
Managing licensing with other vendors is difficult enough. WatchGuard makes it relatively easy to determine which part number is needed to properly license the unit(s).
Cisco ASA is tough to manage and provides limited functionality without expensive licensing. Sophos SG was missing some of the more advanced functionality of WatchGuard.
WatchGuard Network Security is well suited for most small and medium-sized businesses with the need for information security and branch office connectivity.
