Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security
Our network security products are used across the entire enterprise for secure internet access and branch office VPN. With active security subscriptions on all products, I don't have to be as concerned with Internet threats as our firewalls handle most if not all of the incoming threats.
Pros
- Blocking new threats: The few times that I check the logs in the firewalls I see just how many threats they have blocked, it is very reassuring.
- Failover of multiple WAN connections: We have very rocky ISP connections and the Firebox's ability to fail over to several different connections is invaluable to me and my users and it is fully automatic including failback and our VPN's transfer also without missing a beat, well maybe 1 beat.
- Branch Office VPN: What can I say, easy to setup, reliable, fault tolerant, fast. What else could you want.
Cons
- I am really struggling with getting Dimension to work and provide consistent valuable information over time, I can't get it to connect to all my firewalls at remote locations.
- Traffic monitoring is sometimes tough on the fly, I wish there was a way to follow 1 connection/conversation with all the data like Wireshark.
- I have not been able to get tracking of individual users to work on remote desktop servers.
- IT has allowed us to have a reliable and flexible connection to the internet, even with many changes and reliability issues with our ISPs.
- The change to SD-WAN Failover in recent firmware versions has made the failover switches faster and smoother.
It definitely simplified things, as stated before I am not a full-time security person, I wear many hats. Buying the full suite enables me to get everything I needed to stay protected without having to pick what I needed and forget something I had to add later.
No comparison, sonicwalls are very complicated to use.
