Overall Satisfaction with Widen

Acquia DAM (Widen) provides us with a single source of up-to-date packaging and other images. These are used throughout the organization and pulled for our intranet. It also allows users to download resized images as needed. We're able to utilize a link for websites that can then be updated independently of IT.

Pros

  • Accuracy
  • Uptime

Cons

  • Processing speed for downloads
  • Many tasks could be more intuitive/have less clicks
  • Increased asset uses by users
  • Batch processing resized images
Having our website pull all product images directly from the DAM would be fantastic. Opening it up to even more end users. Should the demand be there we may have to get into video content.
A forum is provided to talk shop with other users. That's great for a field that can feel pretty solitary. It's easy to chat/email customer support and get prompt feedback. Their product roadmap is also open to seeing. I'm still blown away I can open up a chat with support even though I rarely use it.
Webdam had accuracy issues. Support would take months to fix critical issues. There were a couple of issues that were never fixed or broke again within a few weeks. Download speeds were fantastic though. Acquia DAM (Widen) has much better support and reliability. The software, unfortunately, has slower downloads although that seems to have improved after providing feedback.

Yes

Did Acquia DAM (Widen) live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Acquia DAM (Widen) go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Acquia DAM (Widen) again?

Yes

It's been great for our company with lots of brands and SKUs. I'm able to control metadata fields and values to what makes the most sense for our end users. Thinking of where it's not appropriate is a little tougher. I suppose a smaller company that doesn't have to share assets or have many assets wouldn't provide enough reward for the work to build out and maintain.
