Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Woocommerce is used by my organisation to offer an eCommerce solution for us and our clients. We use it whenever we need a shopping basket solution - even if sometimes that does not result in a payment gateway. It provides a quick, cost-effective solution that works well with our other software

Alternatives Considered

Umbraco CMS, Magento and Episerver Digital Commerce

Much easier to set up than any other basket I have used which makes it my first choice - it also goes straight into a WordPress site so can easily be added to a blog that is already set up. The costs are only what additions you have so it is easy to budget for as well.

Woocommerce is well suited to simple e-commerce sites, where you need quick set up and easy management of products. It also can be used for more advanced eccomerce solutions, like integrations with other systems and management, however, a lot more technical knowledge and resource is needed. It is also well suited to sites that do not need a payment gateway as you can leave this step.
