Overall Satisfaction with Workato
Useful for simple, small to moderate-sized workflow-oriented integrations.
- Rapid development
- Highly available Technical Support
- Prebuilt recipes
- Cannot handle large, complex enterprise integrations
- Timeouts if you try to push a lot of data through
- Cannot cache large datasets
- Error tracing and remediation difficult
- Not designed for ETL, EDI or Enterprise Application Integration (EAI)
- If a prebuilt recipe is not available, difficult for non-technical people to create
- Not a no-code solution by any means
- Issues with data corruption from OPAs in same group but different servers (OPA per step vs OPA per recipe is the cause, apparently)
- Very responsive technical support
- Cannot use since it cannot handle the large, complex integrations we develop
Workato is useful for the rapid development of simple workflow-oriented integrations. It was not designed for large, enterprise integrations like Boomi. Their target audiences and target use cases overlap in some areas, but there are very important differences. We selected Boomi for the large-scale, complex integrations where we have to process large datasets. Workato is used by the less technical users who need to develop simple integrations for themselves. Anything beyond the prebuilt recipes often requires more advanced technical support from developers as this product is not truly a no-code solution.

Evaluating Workato and Competitors
- Product Features
We are using it for limited, simple, low volume scenarios for less technical users who have use cases that happen to match prebuilt recipes.
We would not change our evaluation and selection process
Workato Implementation
- Implemented in-house
Change management was minimal - Change management was not relevant
- Learning curve steeper than anticipated
- For use cases outside the prebuilt recipes, needed to involve trained developers
